The Gate — J Calaway — Make Today Count

Apr 30, 2025    J Calaway

Is it landing that dream job, stacking up wealth, or something deeper? I remember when I first stumbled across this quote—it totally shifted how I see success. Here it is: “He has achieved success who has worked well, laughed often, and loved much.” This isn’t your typical definition of success—it’s not about trophies or bank accounts. It’s about a life well-lived through work, joy, and love.

At its core, it’s telling us that success is a balance of three things: purposeful work, frequent joy, and deep relationships.

Work Well — Colossians 3:23

Laugh Often — Proverbs 17:22

Love Much — 1 Corinthians 13:13

They’re like pieces of a puzzle that create a full picture of success. It’s not about excelling in just one area, but weaving them into a balanced life. Here’s the cool part: they feed each other. When you work with purpose, you’ve got more reasons to laugh. When you’re joyful, you’ve got more love to share. And love? It makes your work and joy even richer. This isn’t about chasing perfection—it’s about living intentionally in a way that honors God and blesses others. That’s true success.

So, Find purpose in your work, joy in your moments, and love in your relationships and Make Today Count!
