The Gate — J Calaway — Make Today Count — Plans & Prayer
“Prayer doesn’t change God’s plan; it prepares your heart to walk in it.”
God’s Plans Stand
God’s plans are steady, unshakable, and full of purpose. What prayer does is align us with Him, so that instead of resisting His will, we walk confidently in it.
Notice—God doesn’t say “I’m figuring it out as I go.” He already knows the plans. They’re secure.
(Jeremiah 29:11)
prayer is not about trying to talk God into a different direction—it’s about helping our hearts trust the direction He’s already set. (Isaiah 46:10)
Prayer Shapes Us
Prayer is like spiritual training. Each time you pray, your will is being bent toward God’s will. (Luke 22:43)
Jesus shows us that prayer doesn’t always remove the trial, but it prepares the heart to endure it.
When you pray, you may not always get the answer you want, but you receive the strength, the clarity, and the peace to keep walking in what God has already prepared.
Walking in God’s Plan
what happens when we make prayer part of our daily rhythm?
We stop fighting God’s plan and start flowing in it. (Philippians 4:6-7)
The peace of God comes—not because He changed His plan, but because prayer changed our posture. We go from fear to faith, from resistance to surrender, from confusion to clarity.
Prayer makes us ready to step into what God has already written for our lives.
Today’s challenge: the next time you pray, don’t only ask God to change your situation. Ask Him to change you—to shape your heart, to prepare your steps, and to align you with His plan.
Make today count—by walking confidently in the plan God already has for us.
