The Gate — J Calaway — Make Today Count — Engage the Present

Aug 2, 2024    J Calaway

Worrying doesn’t take away tomorrow’s troubles; it takes away today’s peace.' Worrying is a natural human response; it’s our mind’s way of preparing for potential challenges. However, it’s essential to recognize that while we may feel the urge to worry, it does not change the outcome of tomorrow. In fact, it often clouds our ability to appreciate today.

Instead of fretting about the future, we can focus in trusting that God is in control. (Philippians 4:6-7)

Imagine how liberating it would be to let go of our worries! When we choose to focus on the present moment, we open ourselves up to peace. (Matthew 6:34)

It can steal our joy, disrupt our relationships, and prevent us from fully engaging in the present. We worry about things that never even happen. The key is to cast your worries and care on Jesus. (1 Peter 5:7)

Each day be in the moment. Be mindful of your surroundings. Take a moment each day to breathe deeply, focus on the present, and acknowledge your feelings without judgment.

Each day be grateful. Keeping a gratitude journal can transform our perspective. When we focus on what we’re thankful for, we shift our attention away from anxiety and towards appreciation.

Each day be focused. When we feel overwhelmed, we can turn to Him for comfort and peace. (Matthew 11:28-30)

Don’t let worry steal your today. Make Today Count!
