The Gate — J Calaway — Make Today Count — Unbreakable

“Storms without God will break you. Storms with God will build.” This powerful statement reminds us of the importance of our faith during life's inevitable challenges.

Life is filled with storms—unexpected challenges, heartaches, and trials that can shake us to our core. But how we respond to these storms can define our journey. Today, we’ll delve into what it means to weather life's storms with God and how that can ultimately strengthen us.

The disciples were in the boat with Jesus, in a vicious storm.

Imagine the fear and chaos those disciples experienced. They were seasoned fishermen, familiar with storms, yet this one terrified them. They woke Jesus, who was sleeping peacefully, and cried out in desperation. Their fear blinded them to the presence of the one who had the power to calm the storm. (Mark 4:35-41)

This story illustrates a crucial point: when we face storms without God, we often find ourselves overwhelmed, lost, and afraid. But when we invite God into our storms, we can find peace amidst chaos.

The key is not just to acknowledge that storms will come, but to understand that they can serve a purpose. Make you stronger, more complete, perfect. (James 1:2-4)

Trials and storms are not just obstacles; they are opportunities for growth. When we face difficulties with God by our side, we develop steadfastness—a resilience that shapes our character and deepens our faith.

What are the storms in your life? It's a health crisis, a financial struggle, or a broken relationship. When we confront these storms alone, they can feel insurmountable. But with God, we can experience transformation.

You see, storms can break us or they can build us. It all depends on our foundation. Are you built on the rock or the sand (Matthew 7:24)

Building our lives on the rock—on Christ—means that when storms come, we are not easily shaken. We can stand firm, knowing that God is with us, guiding us, and using our struggles to mold us into who He created us to be.

So, how do we weather our storms with God? Here are a few practical steps:

1.       Pray: Turn to God in prayer, sharing your fears and asking for His strength. Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us not to be anxious but to bring our requests to God, and His peace will guard our hearts.

2.       Read Scripture:** Immerse yourself in God’s Word. The Bible is filled with promises and stories of hope that can encourage you during tough times.

3.       Seek Community: Surround yourself with fellow believers. Sharing your burdens and prayers can lighten your load and provide support.

4.       Trust His Plan: Remember that God uses storms for our good. Romans 8:28 assures us that all things work together for the good of those who love Him.

Remember that storms without God can break us, but when we lean on Him, those very storms can build us into stronger, more faithful individuals. Embrace your storms with faith, knowing that God is with us every step of the way.

Make today count by leaning into your faith during life’s storms.
