The Gate — J Calaway — Make Today Count

‘Attachment leads to jealousy. The shadow of greed, that is. Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose.’ This quote resonates deeply in our modern lives, where attachment and desire can often cloud our judgment and peace.

In our lives, we often attach ourselves to people, possessions, and outcomes. This attachment can lead to feelings of jealousy when we perceive that something we hold dear is threatened. James 3:16

When we allow attachment to dictate our emotions, we create a breeding ground for jealousy and greed. Imagine a garden where weeds of attachment grow wild, choking the beautiful flowers of gratitude and contentment. To cultivate a flourishing garden in our hearts, we must begin to recognize what we are clinging to.

Learn to Let Go

1. Practice Gratitude: Each day, write down three things you’re grateful for. This shifts your focus from what you fear losing to what you already have.

2. Meditate on Scripture: Spend time reflecting on verses that remind you of God’s provision and love.

3. Visualize Letting Go: Imagine each attachment as a balloon. Picture yourself releasing it into the sky, trusting that God has everything under control.”

Remember that letting go doesn’t mean losing; it means trusting God with our lives. When we release our attachments, we open ourselves to greater peace and joy. Let’s end with a reminder from Matthew 6:21: ‘For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.’ Let’s treasure what truly matters.”
