The Gate — J Calaway — Make Today Count — power of Prayer
I know life can feel overwhelming at times—pressures at work, struggles at home, uncertainty about the future. But I want to remind you today: God is not distant, and He is not unaware. He is ready to act—through your prayers.
The Bible is full of examples where prayer literally changed history. In James 5:16, it says:
“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”
Notice it doesn’t say “sometimes effective” or “if God feels like it.” It says powerful and effective. That’s huge! Prayer is not just a ritual; it is a supernatural lever that moves heaven.
Think about Daniel in the lions’ den. Daniel didn’t try to reason God out of the situation—he prayed. And God moved. The hand of God shut the mouths of lions. That same power is available to you today!
Jesus taught us persistence in prayer in Luke 18:1–8, the parable of the persistent widow. She kept asking, kept knocking, kept believing. And God responded.
Persistent prayer is not about nagging God—it’s about aligning your heart with His will, trusting Him enough to keep showing up. Every time you pray, you are positioning yourself for a breakthrough.
