The Gate — J Calaway — Make Today Count
“When life feels heavy, prayer lifts the weight you were never meant to carry alone.”
those moments when life feels like it’s pressing down on you. The truth is—life does get heavy. Responsibilities pile up, worries creep in, and sometimes the burdens we carry feel impossible.
You were never meant to carry those weights alone. (Psalm 55:22)
Prayer is the way we release those weights. It’s not just talking to God—it’s transferring what we can’t carry into His capable hands.
Prayer doesn’t always change the situation instantly, but it changes us—it lifts the weight off our chest and replaces it with God’s peace.
Think of it this way: prayer is like setting down a heavy backpack at the feet of Jesus. You don’t walk away carrying it again—you leave it there and walk lighter. (Philippians 4:6-7)
The weight feels impossible when you think you’re carrying it by yourself. In prayer, Jesus is saying, “I’ll trade you. Give me your heavy load, and I’ll give you rest.” That’s the power of prayer—it reminds us we’re never alone in this journey.
(Matthew 11:28-30)
Whenever you feel the weight pressing down—stop and pray. Even if it’s just, “Lord, I can’t carry this, but I know You can.” That simple moment of surrender will lift the load and bring you peace.
Remember: When life feels heavy, prayer lifts the weight you were never meant to carry alone.
Let’s make today count—by living lighter through the power of prayer.
