The Gate — J Calaway — Make Today Count — Overcome Guilt
“Never feel guilty for wanting more than the average.” In a world where mediocrity is often accepted, we are called to strive for greatness.
First, let’s consider the concept of abundance. In John 10:10, Jesus tells us, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” This verse reminds us that God desires for us to experience life in abundance.
Wanting more doesn’t mean being greedy; it means recognizing the potential God has placed within us. We are designed for greatness, and seeking more can drive us to fulfill our purpose.
Now, let’s talk about guilt. Many of us feel guilty for wanting more because society often promotes the idea of contentment in mediocrity. However, Philippians 4:19 assures us, “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”
This promise encourages us to pursue our goals, knowing that God will provide. Instead of feeling guilty, we should feel empowered to chase our dreams.
Setting goals is vital for our growth. Proverbs 16:3 states, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” When we set our sights on more than the average, we are not just elevating ourselves; we are also glorifying God by using the gifts He has given us.
Let’s not forget that even Jesus set high standards for us. In Matthew 5:48, He says, “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” This calling invites us to strive for excellence in all we do.
So, how do we take action? First, we must identify what “more” looks like for us. Is it a better job, deeper relationships, or a more profound spiritual life? Once we clarify our desires, we can start taking steps toward them.
James 2:26 reminds us, “Faith without works is dead.” It’s not enough to just want more; we must act upon our faith and put in the effort to achieve it.
Have Faith and belief and the put it into action
