The Gate — J Calaway — Make Today Count — Purpose
‘Going all in for the abundant life means shifting from living for yourself to living with purpose for others.’
Abundant life comes from focused purpose. To have crystal clear focus on where you’re going.
But here’s the twist: the quote says the abundant life doesn’t come from focusing on ourselves. Instead, it’s about shifting our focus outward—living with purpose for others. It’s a bold idea: the key to a rich life isn’t self-indulgence; it’s selflessness. It’s about finding our purpose in serving, supporting, and uplifting those around us.” (Philippians 2:3, 4)
So, how do we live this out? You don’t need to overhaul your life overnight. It starts with small, intentional steps that turn our focus outward.
Here are a few ideas to try today:
1. Practice active listening. When someone’s talking to you, put down your phone, look them in the eye, and really hear them.
2. Help without being asked. Notice a need—a friend who’s stressed, a neighbor who’s struggling—and step in with support. (Mark 10:45)
3. Give your time. Volunteer for a cause you care about, even if it’s just an hour.
4. Show appreciation. Tell someone you’re grateful for them—it’s a simple way to lift them up.
So decide now what you need to shift to Make Today Count!
