The Gate — J Calaway — Make Today Count
‘If you conquer yourself, no one can touch you.’ Think about that. Not the world, not your circumstances, not even other people—but you. The ultimate victory starts from within.
The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 16:32, ‘Better a patient person than a warrior, those who control their temper than those who take a city.’ Conquering yourself—the mind, the emotions, the reactions—is a power greater than anything the world can throw at you.”
Too often, we look at external battles as the measure of strength: winning arguments, impressing others, climbing the ladder. But the true measure of strength is self-control. (1 Corinthians 9:27)
Self-discipline isn’t just about food or fitness—it’s about training your mind to respond correctly, not react impulsively. When you conquer fear, anger, pride, or impatience, nothing in the world can derail you.”
We can’t control everyone else. People will disappoint you, situations will challenge you, life will throw curveballs—but you can control your reaction. (James 1:19)
Conquering yourself means refusing to be enslaved by your emotions. It’s choosing peace over chaos, patience over rashness, forgiveness over bitterness.
When you master your reactions, even the most difficult people or circumstances cannot touch the essence of who you are. You become untouchable.
Conquering yourself also means mastering your focus. (Proverbs 4:25-27)
When your purpose is clear and your mind is disciplined, distractions, criticisms, and attacks lose their power. You are no longer a puppet of circumstance. You are free because your direction is intentional, and your mind is trained to stay on course.
Ultimately, conquering yourself is not just mental or emotional—it’s spiritual. (2 Timothy 1:7)
When you yield your fears, anxieties, and desires to God, you access His strength. Self-conquest isn’t about being hard on yourself—it’s about being aligned with God’s Spirit. That alignment makes you untouchable in ways the world cannot comprehend.”
Today, ask yourself: What do I need to conquer in myself to be truly free? Is it anger, fear, doubt, or distraction? Whatever it is, take it step by step, anchored in God’s Word, and discipline yourself daily.
