“Fear is a reaction. But courage is a decision.”

Think about it—fear is automatic, right? It’s that gut punch when you face a tough situation: a big decision, a conflict, or even stepping out in faith for something new. It’s your body’s natural response, like a reflex. But courage? That’s different. Courage is choosing to act despite the fear. It’s a deliberate step forward, even when your knees are shaking. (Joshua 1:9)

1. Acknowledge the Fear

Fear isn’t the enemy—it’s a signal. It tells you something matters. Maybe you’re scared to have that tough conversation, start that business, or share your faith. That’s okay. The Bible doesn’t hide fear. David faced it with Goliath, Esther faced it approaching the king, and even Jesus felt the weight of the cross in Gethsemane. Fear comes, but it doesn’t have to win. Acknowledge it, but don’t let it call the shots. (Psalm 56:3)

2. Make the Decision for Courage

Courage is a choice to act in faith. It’s not about feeling ready—it’s about trusting God’s strength over your own. (Esther 4:16)

courage might look like forgiving someone who hurt you, taking a step toward a dream, or standing firm in your values. It’s choosing to say, “God, I’m scared, but I trust you.” (Philippians 4:13)
