The Gate — J Calaway — Make Today Count
‘To walk in faith is to walk in light, even when your eyes see only darkness.’
We’ve all been there—facing seasons where we can’t see what’s ahead. The diagnosis, the financial struggle, the broken relationship. The darkness feels heavy. But here’s the truth: faith doesn’t rely on what we see—faith relies on Who we trust.”
Point 1 – Faith is walking by what you believe, not by what you see — 2 Corinthians 5:7
That means when your natural eyes see only problems, your spiritual eyes hold onto promises.
Faith is choosing to keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, even when everything around you screams, ‘This doesn’t make sense.’ Faith is walking in the light of God’s truth when your eyes see nothing but shadows.”
Point 2 – Faith is trusting God’s Word as your lamp. (Psalms 119:105)
It’s not a spotlight that shows the whole road. It’s a lamp—just enough light for the next step.
That’s how faith works. You may not see the end of the road, but God gives you enough light for today. Tomorrow, He’ll give you light for that day too.
So don’t get stuck waiting to see the whole picture. Walk in the light He’s already given you.”
Point 3 – Faith shines brightest in the darkest times (John 8:12)
Even when life feels dark, you’re not stumbling alone—you have the Light of the World walking with you.
And here’s the encouragement: your faith not only helps you walk in light, it becomes a light for others. (Matthew 5:16)
When people see you walking faithfully through the dark, it sparks hope in their own lives.
So here’s today’s challenge: Don’t let the darkness around you define your steps. Choose to walk in faith, because faith always carries the light of God’s presence.
So today, take that next step—not because you see everything clearly, but because you trust the One who lights your path. That’s how you make today count.”
